Disco is a sweet and goofy girl who needs to have a forever person to bond with. Could you be that person?  She sometimes comes off as intimidating to strangers by her dark, sable looks and size, but she is just a big baby with a big bark.

If Disco were a human, her foster thinks that she would make a great bodyguard (looks only).  She can be timid in new situations, but with some engagement and a short amount of time, she is back to being her goofy self.  In social situations, she warms up quicker to women and children, but men can take a little longer to adjust to.  #WomenAndChildrenFirst  The herding instinct comes out during play, she will grab tails while running by and attempt to move the other dogs into the spot where she wants them.  Additionally, she does well with other dogs in the medium to large dogs as she does not understand her size very well and might be a lotta much for a small dog.  If they are bouncy or barky, she takes that as they are some sort of prey; she is learning to leave it and co-exist but should not be left unsupervised with small animals.

During car rides, she tries to move around a bit to make sure you are driving correctly and safely enough for her liking, so she will need a harness or crate if you do not want a full-time co-pilot for your vehicular journeys.  When she went to the vet’s office, the visit went well, she was friendly but unsure with the other patients and staff.  Loud noises no longer seem to bother her either. If her humans are her favorite thing in the world, food is a close second!  If you want to bribe or get her really engaged in training, food is the key.  She does get distracted easily, so handler focus has been difficult for her, but it is getting better.

During Disco’s time in foster care, she has mastered Sit, Down, Stand, Place, and Come commands, plus she now waits at doors for a release command as well.  She is currently working on the Leave It and Off commands.  Her house manners are coming around, as she is fully potty trained but will still raid the trashcan or counter surf if given the opportunity.  This girl will get bored if not given the proper amount of mental and physical stimulation per day.  When this happens, she makes “work” for herself in the form of deconstructing items left out in her reach or pulling things into her crate.  Overall, these are easily fixable with the proper/continued training as well as mental and physical stimulation during the day.  Please remember she is still young, and sometimes these traits need time to be handled; Rome wasn’t built overnight.

Disco is looking for her forever home, which will need to be an active home that will continue her training for her to be successful throughout her life.  A home with older kids and large, respectful dogs would work in Disco’s favor as well.  She might be a sports candidate for Flyball, Barn Hunt, and Dock Diving in the future.  Being outside is where she really shines, so maybe a hiking/camping adventure buddy is what you are looking for. If so, give Disco a shot; she might surprise you!

Adoption Donation: $500.00

Transport along Interstate 5 (Rowland Heights, CA to Edmonds, WA) is available but cost not included in adoption fee.

For all inquiries, please fill out our adoption application first, as the volunteer answering emails is probably not the coordinator for the specific foster home/dog.
