ABOUT KANCHI

~DOB: 7/1/2022

Weight: 52 lbs

Energy Level: Moderate - High

Overall Drive: Moderate, HIGH PREY

Location: Washougal, WA

Kanchi is a sweet and energetic young boy who is silly, smart, loves to snuggle, and will add some spunk to your life. He loves to run, tug, and play fetch but is also perfectly content snuggling on the couch with you, munch on a bone, or take grass baths.

If Kanchi were a human, he’d thrive as an Olympic sprinter, a snorkeler, or a center fielder. Kanchi adores people and shows it with endless kisses! He gets along nicely with his non-dominant foster siblings (male and female) and engaged in gentle, patient play with a 10-week-old foster puppy. He’s not reactive to chickens or goats but can’t safely live with cats or other small animals.

Occasionally, Kanchi can become overstimulated, which may lead to anxious behavior. Having a handler who can recognize these signs and redirect him with focus exercises has been a very effective form of management. As a young dog, he can get a bit pushy for affection, so clear boundaries are essential in helping him continue to learn what a polite dog should behave like.

Overall, Kanchi is easy to please, and with some physical and mental stimulation (he enjoys his morning treadmill walks and filled Kongs), he’s happy to nap while his foster works, making him an excellent office co-worker.

Kanchi is potty trained, crate trained, rides nicely in the car (with or without a crate), and is well-mannered at the vets office. He’s not bothered by loud noises and is e-collar and bark collar conditioned. He’s currently working on intermediate skills, and although he doesn’t have any naughty habits like counter-surfing or raiding the trash, he will try to test boundaries. Kanchi responds well to verbal corrections and has made excellent progress with consistent direction.

Kanchi is looking for a moderately active family in a calm, chaos-free home. He’d love to be the center of your world as a solo dog, but with slow, controlled introductions, he’d do well with non-dominant canine siblings. Kanchi may enjoy handler-focused sports like Dock Diving, Flyball, Fast CAT, or even non-competitive nose work. If you’re looking for a goofy, lovable tug champion, Kanchi is your guy!
