Meg is an absolute doll of a puppy who loves and craves attention from anyone who will look in her direction! Truly a sweetheart through and through, it does take a little time to get through the puppy shyness but once you are in her “circle of trust” she is the happiest little 4-legged maligator one can imagine!
If Meg had a human job #ChildLaborLaws, her foster thinks that she would be a hunter or an outdoor guide since she seems to want to use her nose and chase the birds that come around the property. She loves being outside but stays near her people and does not wander off at all. Playing fetch is one of her favorite things until she spots a bird on the ground and then she goes into stealth stalking mode #MaybePartNinja. Overall, she is energetic but not over the top, with typical puppy levels of calm and crazy.
During car rides, Meg just sleeps since she is too short to see the world zooming by out of the windows. #MahLegsTooShort She is well mannered at the vets’s office and tolerates handling very well. When meeting new people she is great, a little shy at first but warms up quickly. Her foster also reports that she is doing great around the horses they have on the property, not much fear in this little girl. She enjoys being in the company of other dogs who can help her learn the ropes and build her confidence.
Meg is working hard to become proficient at the Sit, Come, Bed/Go to Bed, Down, and off commands. She is also working hard on are not being destructive as most puppies are, #SoHardToDoWhenYouAreThisCute, finishing potty training, and crate manners as she can Houdini herself out of a wire crate. During training time treats and praise work the best for luring her into action. As for correction, it seems that less is more with Meg, so a simple/stern “No” usually does the job if she is being a stinker. On the plus side, she sleeps through the night and doesn’t get up in the morning until her foster does.
Meg is looking for an active forever home who can set her up for success with continues training, not leave her crated all day, and help her be the best version of herself. She would love to share her home with other dogs and kids, but even if you don't have either of those she still might be the perfect dog for you! So if you are looking for a pint-sized pal, look no further than Meg – she is an absolute gem!
